14 Things That Happen When You Fall For the Villains
"Gotham" hasn’t been shy about introducing numerous villains in Batman’s city during its first season, from the Penguin to Catwoman, but the show is now teasing the arrival of its most iconic villains: The Joker.  Time to put a smile on your face, Joker fans!   There are always some villains in the superhero stories. They’re insane, evil or brutal, but the point is we love them. That’s when the following things happen to us: 1.You start to question your sanity.  “Am I nuts or is the guy trying to blow up the city way more attractive than the guy trying to save it?” 2.But then you realize you make the most sense.  The hero is all brawn and no brains. You want somebody who thinks. 3.So, you head home to look up your new crush.  You’re oddly disappointed when the actor doesn’t turn out to be an evil genius. 4.You roll your eyes at your friends who are just so obsessed w

Who Is Ultron, The Villain Leader in "The Avengers 2"?
On Wednesday night, the trailer to "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 blockbuster, leaked online. There was one element that stood out above everything else - even the dreamlike vision of the entire team - it was Ultron.  He apparently has a robot army at his command. And his eerie voice dominates the trailer in voice over. Ultron really is terrifying. Almost all of the dialogue in the trailer comes from the big bad himself. It’s really hard to overstate how great James Spader’s performance is - he doesn’t sound like a machine. He sounds frighteningly alive as he quotes lines from the classic Pinocchio song "I've Got No Strings." The first time we see Ultron, he comes stumbling out of Tony Stark’s workshop in Avengers Tower, as a dangerous party crasher. Unlike the phase one Marvel superheroes, many people don’t know who Ultron is or how he may fit into this upcoming chapter of the

Why Was Thunderbird on the Villain Side on the X-Men Cartoon?
Welcome to Comic Book Legends Revealed! This is the six hundred and forty-eighth week where we examine comic book legends and whether they are true or false. As we’ve been doing it for some time now, one legend today, one tomorrow and one Sunday. Let’s begin! COMIC LEGEND: Thunderbird was going to be a villain on the X-Men animated series STATUS: False Any fans of the X-Men animated series from the early 1990s are likely familiar with the opening credits. Okay, so my pal Justin K. wrote in to ask, “Why is Thunderbird on the villains side in the intro?” He’s right, of course, as Thunderbird is, indeed, shown as part of Magneto’s Brotherhood in the climactic part of the intro where the heroes and villains charge at each other. So what was the deal? I’m afraid the answer is shocking…in how not shocking it is. I asked Eric Lewald about it. Eric was a longtime writer on the series and he and Julia Lewald (who also wrote for the series

14 Anime Series Where the Main Character is the Villain
Everyone loves to root for a hero, right? Wrong! Heroes are a dime a dozen, but in most media you so rarely get to see things from a villain’s point of view. It is easy to make a villain that is two dimensional and whose only motivation is to be evil. However, when an anime series puts the villain of the series in the main character seat, it is an opportunity to show them as real (fictional) people with actual personalities and motivations for doing what they do. For those that need a little more villainy in their life, try these anime recommendations. Death Note This series is one of two series we need to put on here just to get it out of the way. For many, Death Note was one of their first clear-cut anime series where the main protagonist was overtly the villain. Certainly he might not have started out that way, but the longer Death Note went on, the clearer it became that Light was not a good guy until it reached a feverish crescendo of crazy at the end.
