When dealing with a large issue as a group, one tends to notice there will always be people that do not pull their weight or actually seem to be dragging the whole team down. This does not make them a bad or annoying person. It just helps you realize that you really don't want to depend on them when a serious moment comes. This is not only seen in group projects for school but also in anime. There will always be characters that may be there for comic relief or as a plot device but they don't seem to do that much or accomplish anything major in the story, at times disappearing completely throughout half of the series.
