Anime Like Black Clover

I see you’ve wandered into this place to become a Wizard King. Oh, did I get that wrong? If you’re not here to become a Wizard King, then are you here to look for anime similar to Black Clover? Okay, looks like I finally revealed your true intention. I can’t really blame you given that Black Clover seems really good and is gleaming with so much potential. Actually, I think it has the makings of another epic shounen anime.

Well, let’s get on to the main point! This place you’ve stumbled upon is actually the place you’re looking for. Listed here are some titles you might want to watch if you liked Black Clover so much. Don’t you worry now, they’re all bound to satisfy you in one way or another. All you have to do is pick one and watch.

1. Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)

If Asta from Black Clover has no magic in his body to actually become the Wizard King, then Midoriya from Boku no Hero Academia has no quirk that all heroes possess. To put it simply, the main similarity comes from the fact that the main protagonist of this show has to start his adventure from absolute zero! And oh, did I ever mention—Boku no Hero Academia is also a mainstream shounen anime!

Boku no Hero Academia is one of the newest mainstream shounen anime. That being said, it’s a successor of the past popular shounen anime that have already become classics. Great promise is held by this show. In fact, it’s visuals, animation, sound, and development are all top-notch! It’s proof that the shounen genre in anime is continually evolving for the better.

2. UQ Holder!

Making a debut in the same time frame as Black Clover, UQ Holder is another show that you shouldn’t miss!

It’s true that UQ Holder is a direct sequel of another anime that goes by the title Mahou Sensei Negima, but trust me on this—this one has been overhauled in such a way that it seems like a whole new anime that is virtually independent from its source!

While there’s a decent chance that UQ Holder won’t be able to hold up against Black Clover, it’s unwise to overlook its potential. After all, it does have an interesting plot and a flawless animation style. Only time can tell now what form it will take at its pinnacle.

3. Naruto

This list would never be complete without a mention of Naruto. I know—Naruto always seems to pop-up whenever one needs a shounen anime recommendation and you’re tired of it. I get it, but as I have said, this list would never be complete without a single mention of it!

Naruto is a legendary shounen anime that has already entered the domain of the classics. In fact, many anime shows are already following suit by emulating its greatness in one way or another. Black Clover is no exception! For some reason, I can see Black Clover treading the same path of success as Naruto did. Only time can tell now how Black Clover will turn out in the future.

4. Ao no Exorcist (Blue Exorcist)

If you’re looking for another anime with a similar brother-rival dynamic, then Ao no Exorcist is the show to pick! Ao no Exorcist has a tandem of brothers also basking in the main character limelight. One is a natural genius and the other is a messy slob—but both great and with good hearts! They’re polar opposites of one another, yes, but their goals are one and the same—to exorcise all demons!

As for the show itself, it is pretty decent but not very faithful when it comes to following its source material. It surely is watchable and enjoyable but I don’t want you to get your hopes too high. As I’ve already said, it doesn’t follow its source material to a point, so that’s a lot of potential wasted. I can’t say the same for the sequels though because I haven’t watched them yet.

5. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Now this is big! Out of all the titles listed here, this is the one that you should truly consider watching. Why? It’s because this is one of the best anime shows of all time! It also just so happens that this show is a shounen anime with two brothers acting as the main characters and marching towards a monumental goal one step at a time.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood boasts a plethora of elements combined perfectly. Plot, visuals, characters, music, and enjoyment—everything fits together impeccably as if they’ve all been alchemically merged. Truth be told, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is not just an anime—it’s an experience! If you haven’t watched it yet, then now is the perfect time to immerse yourself in it and experience a whole new world of grandeur and indescribable intensity.
