News Live-Action Samurai Sensei Film's Trailer Reveals Spring 2018 Opening
Film starring Hayato Ichihara gets advance screening in Kōchi, Kagoshima, Yamaguchi, Saga on Saturday

The official website of the live-action film adaptation of of S-suke Kuroe's Samurai Sensei comedy manga began streaming a comment video and trailer for the film on Wednesday. The video starts with Hayato Ichihara commenting on the film and his role as protagonist Takeichi Hanpeita, before showing the film's trailer.

The film will have an advance screening in TOHO CINEMAS in Kōchi, Kagoshima, Yamaguchi, and Saga on November 18, before having a wide opening in Japan in spring 2018.

Aside from Ichihara, the film's cast also includes Shugo Oshinari, Gaku Oshida, Iriya Take, Yūsei Nishimura, Naruki Matsukawa, Yukijiro Hotaru, Toshiya Nagasawa, Megumi Okina, and Isao Hashizume.

Kazushi Watanbe is directing the film and is also penning the script.

The manga centers around Takeichi Hanpeita, a samurai who finds that he has traveled through time to modern-day Japan. He is taken in by an old man who owns a cram school, and begins to work as a lecturer in the school.

TV Asahi aired a live-action television adaptation of the manga in October 2015. In that adaptation, KANJANI Eight band member Ryo Nishikido played Takeichi Hanpeita.

Kuroe began serializing the manga online on pixiv's "pixiv Comic" service in 2014. Libre Publishing shipped the manga's fourth compiled book volume on March 23. Kuroe traveled many times to Kōchi for research on the setting and finally moved to the city in February 2016.
