News Ashita wa Doyōbi Schoolgirl Manga Gets Anime 'Within' Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san TV Anime
Yui Ogura, M.A.O, Konomi Kohara, more cast revealed for both stories set in middle school

The December issue of Shogakukan's Gessan (Monthly Shonen Sunday) magazine is revealing on Friday that Soichiro Yamamoto's Ashita wa Doyōbi (Tomorrow is Saturday) manga is getting an anime adaptation that will air "within" the upcoming television anime adaptation of Yamamoto's Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san (Takagi-san, the Master of Teasing) manga in January. The two manga share the same story setting. The magazine also reveals more cast for both anime:

Yui Ogura as Sanae M.A.O as Yukari Konomi Kohara as Mina Yūma Uchida as Nakai Kotori Koiwai as Mano Nobuhiko Okamoto as Takao Fukushi Ochiai as Kimura Hinata Tadokoro as Tanabe-sensei

Yuuki Kaji stars in Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san as Nishikata, and Rie Takahashi co-stars as Takagi-san.

Ashita wa Doyōbi centers on the everyday lives of three junior high school girls: the energetic Mina, the serious Yukari, and the cool Sanae. The manga ran in the Yomiuri Chūkōsei Shimbun for a year starting in 2014. Shogakukan published two compiled book volumes for the manga.

Hiroaki Akagi (Hina Logic - from Luck & Logic) is directing Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san at Shinei Animation (Elegant Yokai Apartment Life, Doraemon). Michiko Yokote (RIN-NE, Genshiken, ReLIFE) is handling the series composition, and Aya Takano (Himouto! Umaruchan, Kimi no Koe o Todoketai, Polar Bear's Café) is designing the characters for animation. Takuji Mogi (And you thought there is never a girl online?) and Natsuko Kondou (animation director for Natsume's Book of Friends seasons 3 and 4, Durarara!!×2 Shō) are the chief animation directors.

The Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san manga centers on Nishikata, a middle school student who has suffered humiliation due to being teased by Takagi, the girl who sits next to him. Since then, he has vowed to one day do the same to her and succeed in teasing her.

Yamamoto launched the Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san manga in Gessan mini, the accompanying booklet to the main Gessan magazine, in 2013. After Yamamoto finished serializing his Fudatsuki no Kyōko-chan manga in Gessan in June 2016, Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san moved to Gessan in July. Shogakukan published the manga's sixth volume on August 10.

The manga topped a poll by Honya Club on bookstore employees' recommended manga for 2017 in February, and it was also nominated for this year's Manga Taisho award.
